The marine friendly Adidas Parley UltraBoost X will be available in Singapore from Wednesday, June 28.

The sportswear company first announced the release date on its Facebook page. No prices or specific stores were mentioned in its announcement.

The main feature of the Adidas Parley UltraBoost X’s is that its Primeknit upper is made up of 11 plastic bottles. Even the sneakers’ laces, heel webbing, heel counter, and sock lining is made up of recycled PET material, reports Kicks On Fire.

PET, a.k.a. Polyethylene terephthalate is a fiber used in clothing and food containers (Wikipedia).

Additionally, the sneakers also come equipped with a ‘Near Field Communication’ (NFC) chip which provides consumers more information on the collaboration and marine crisis.

For those unfamiliar with the UltraBoost X silhouette, the running shoes come with STRETCHWEB rubber outsole for better grip on both wet and dry surfaces. As well as a floating TORSION SYSTEM arch for added support as well as providing a better shoe fit.

Aesthetically, the sneakers will come dressed in an off-white/blue colorway, inspired by the coral bleaching crisis threatening multiple oceans.
