Calvin Klein, the man behind the eponymous brand is not hot for the idea that Kendall Jenner is fronting the brand’s underwear campaign.
Kendall Jenner is pretty and popular, so it would seem a wise choice to have her front a brand. Calvin Klein, the man behind the eponymous brand, doesn’t seem to think so.
At a talk at Savannah College of Art and Design with former CFDA president Fern Mallis, Calvin Klein said the choice of casting the reality star is “not the kind of thing I would have done, even today.”
He added: “Now models are paid for how many followers they have,” and that “They’re booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do — they’re booked because of how many followers they have online.”
Klein, however, had good things to say about Justin Bieber.
“Justin Bieber, yes. I think they’re very good,” he said.
He added: “It’s because I like him — not because he’s got millions of followers.”
