Facebook Videos Coming to TV Screens Soon

You might be tuning in to Facebook on your television sets pretty soon.

Facebook is in the process of creating an application for television set-top boxes.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the social networking service is turning its attention to the television market, including Apple TV, all in the hopes of increasing advertising revenue through video ads.

The app will enable users to tune into Facebook Live, the social media’s live video product launched in April last year. Users can search and comment in real time, as well as broadcast exclusive videos.

Facebook is also currently in talks with media companies to license long-form, TV-quality content that is targeted to YouTube’s current audience. Makes sense, since long-form videos are easier to monetize compared to the short clips available through Facebook Live.
