With a whopping 44 million Instagram followers, Kim Kardashian unseats Beyoncé as the most followed person on Instagram.
For a long while, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian were pretty much neck and neck in their number of Instagram followers. But as of yesterday, Kim K edged out the competition to become the ultimate queen of Instagram, with 44,005,604 followers compared to Beyoncé’s 43,935,648.
While it’s hard to put a finger on what led to the surge in Kardashian’s followers, Twitter user Ian Schafer pointed out that it could very well be the Yeezy Boost 350, a sneaker designed by Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West, that caused it.
Tech Insider wrote that even though both Beyoncé and Kardashian post photos of themselves and their family, including daughters Ivy Blue and North respectively, Kardashian updates her Instagram account more frequently, with wordier and more personal photo captions.
According to statistics from SocialBlade, trailing these two celebrities is Taylor Swift, with 43,533,226 Instagram followers to her name. Females make up the rest of the top 10 Instagram followers list, Justin Bieber being the only exception.
