Sean Wotherspoon, co-owner of the popular vintage boutique, Round Two, is the official winner of Nike’s 2017 “Vote Forward” campaign.

To celebrate the 2017 Nike Air Max Day (March 26), the sportswear company rolled out the “Vote Forward” campaign, which allowed fans to vote for their favorite sneaker design to be released on the 2018 Air Max Day.

To recap, Nike’s “Vote Forward” campaign enlisted 12 sneaker aficionados from all over the world, to redesign a pair of the Nike Air Max shoes. Known collectively as the Nike RevolutionAirs, participants include New York City DJ Venus X and Naotaka Konno of MAGIC STICK, the Japanese clothing brand known for its musically influenced designs.

According to Nike, Wotherspoon’s winning design was largely inspired by vintage Nike hats of the 80s. Sean’s colorful design combines key features of the Nike Air Max 97 and Nike Air Max 1. The sneakers will also sport a kitschy corduroy outer, velour collar lining, and a custom wave tongue logo – designed to look great worn, even when the sneakers turn frayed with age.

The “Vote Forward” campaign, much like Nike’s “Vote Back” campaign of 2016, put the decision to (re)launch the following years’ Air Max Day product in the hands of the fans.
