The Nikon COOLPIX AW120 retains the rugged and tough qualities of its predecessor while improving on its photo-taking capabilities.

Outdoor adventurers and extreme sports enthusiasts who want to capture that perfect moment will be eager to get their hands on the Nikon COOLPIX AW120, the company’s latest update of its all-weather camera.

Like the AW110 released last year, the AW120 is built to withstand the rigors of harsh environments and severe outdoor situations. It spots the same features as its predecessor: Waterproof up to 18m/59 feet, shockproof up to 2m/6.6ft, and freezeproof even in temperatures as low as -10°C/14°F.

Internally, the camera is built with a 16-megapixel sensor and 5x optical zoom, no different from the AW110, but certainly not outdated. What’s changed is the f/2.8 aperture Nikkor lens that the AW120 utilizes. It allows for wider shots and faster shooting compared to the AW110’s f/3.9 lens, a welcome change especially for those low light situations.

Other features include a 3-inch high res OLED display along with Wi-Fi and GPS support. Capturing video at Full HD (1080p) is also possible. To sweeten up the package, the AW120 comes with a chest mount camera strap and silicon cover jacket so you can put the camera through its paces right out of the box. Available in black, blue, orange and camoflage (our favorite color of the lot).

The Nikon Coolpix retails for S$529 and is available from today at all authorized Nikon dealers. For more information, visit the official site.
