In Occupy #Straatsnaps, we invite professional and amateur photographers from all over the world to take over our Instagram account (@straat0sphere) for a weekend. Last weekend’s edition was contributed by Farhan Arif (@mcvxy).

Hey everyone @mcvxy here taking over this weekend issue of #Straatsnaps. Architectural shots are one of the first few reasons why I got into photography. I guess the shape and colors of a building attracts me the most. I found this spot while I was wandering aimlessly around the mall. I love how the travellators and the roof form an hourglass shape together.

This shot reminds me a lot of the streets in Chicago with all the tall buildings on both sides towering over the road. In addition, I was lucky enough to have captured the two ladies in my shot as they were crossing over. Remember to look both ways!

Had an episode of vertigo while doing post-production for this one. The shapes and lines fits well together as a whole. I was aiming for a “look-down” perspective as I wanted to give a more thrilling feel.

Besides architectural shots, I do enjoy shooting portraits too! Over the years I was blessed with a number of talented souls who modeled for me. Here we have M sporting on the “PABLO” camo jacket. We went for a street-style themed.

Bokeh is one of my many favorite things in photography. Especially in portraits, I feel that it is one of the element that is able to make the subject stands out.

Worth it. That’s all I can say. Woke up at 5 in the morning just to experience a front row seat to nature’s finest. With Changi Airport right behind to where I was at, planes were coming in non-stop the whole morning. Took that to my advantage and had a little waiting game until I got this shot that I was aiming for.

I always have fun whenever it comes to reflection shots. As an added bonus, this was taken as the sun was setting down and the skies were really amazing. Took the opportunity to blend in the buildings together with the sunset, reflecting on the water. With this, I end my take over for #Straatsnaps.
