Controversial Richard Prince might have meandered through the loopholes of copyright laws, but Missy Suicide of SuicideGirls might have proven herself to be smarter than him.

If you haven’t already heard, photographer and painter Richard Prince has caused quite a stir in recent weeks by selling screenshots of people’s Instagram pictures at $100,000 and up without first obtaining prior permission to do so.

While Prince has cleverly meandered through the loopholes of copyright laws and profited greatly from that, one of the subjects of these portraits is hitting back by selling the same prints Prince is selling at just a fraction of his price.

Dubbed Missy Suicide (@suicidegirls), the girl who’s giving Prince a run for his money wrote, “Everyone has been asking me what I thought about famous controversial artist Richard Prince taking a series of SuicideGirls Instagram posts and printing them out and selling them at a recent gallery show at the Gagosian Gallery of Beverly Hills for $90,000 a piece. My first thought was I don’t know anyone who can spend $90,000 on anything other than a house.”

“As to the copyright issue? If I had a nickel for every time someone used our images without our permission in a commercial endeavor I’d be able to spend $90,000 on art.”

Missy’s prints are now available here and all proceeds will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
