5 Reasons to Attend the STGCC 2014

The convention for all things pop culture is back! Here are 5 reasons to attend the Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention, which includes the chance to meet eminent sneaker customizer, Matt “Sekure D” Fabris!

STGCC has been the go-to large scale marketplace for pop culture toy collectors, and this year is no different. Besides the usual suspects like Hot Toys, look out also for works by Singapore’s very own XM Studios, which produces limited edition scaled collectible figures of popular Marvel characters, like those pictured above.

What’s a comic convention without fans dressed up as their favorite characters? Costume play, or cosplay for short, sees ordinary folk transformed into pop culture figure lookalikes using ingenious and creative means. There’s no better avenue for these like-minded people to show off than at the STGCC 2014. Plus, keep your eyes on guest cosplayers Aliga, Lenneth XVII and Stayxxxx as they sizzle up the halls.

If Anisong, Vocaloid and Touhou are genres familiar to you, or if you just want to dabble in anime-inspired tracks, make sure you attend the first day of STGCC 2014, where DJs Inu, D.watt and Sasakure. UK will be on the decks!

Always had a flair for creating your own comic book characters and want to be part of something bigger? The Association of Comic Artists (Singapore) could be your gateway to getting your name out there! Check out their booth and see how being a member can open opportunities and also enrich your skills. Show your support as the Association launches SupaCross, a bi-monthly comic mini-series, at the convention.

Rub shoulders with famed artists like David Mack and Harvey Tolibao, and keep a lookout for emerging artists at the Artist Alley. Get your favorite comic book signed and even purchase commissioned prints from illustrators at the convention. Sneakerheads, don’t miss this chance to get up-close and personal with Australian artist and sneaker customizer, Matt “Sekure D” Fabris, and the customized kicks he’s become known for.

The Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention will be on from 6-7 September 2014 (Saturday & Sunday) at Marina Bay Sands. Visit the official website for more information.
