Tell us more about yourself.
My name is Benjamin and I’m currently working in the F&B Industry. Apart from collecting sneakers, my other passion is cooking.

How long have you been collecting sneakers?
I started collecting sneakers since the beginning of 2014. However I only got into the “Sneaker Game” in July when a friend of mine introduced me to the sneaker groups on Facebook.

We see you’re a huge Reebok fan. Can you recall what was the first pair of Reeboks you set your sights on, and why it caught your eye?
The first pair of Reeboks that I owned was the Insta Pump Fury “Cordura Pack”. A friend working in a local sneaker store introduced it to me. Initially, I was skeptical about purchasing it, but the unique silhouette and design won me over in the end.

Which is the most expensive pair in your collection?
The most expensive pair that I have gotten so far would be the AAPE by Bathing Ape x Reebok Insta Pump Fury which cost me about S$600.

Last year was a huge year for the Reebok Pump and this year looks to be all about the Ventilators. Are you excited about this?
Definitely! 2014’s collaborations were awesome. I’ve heard of a few other Reebok releases apart from the Ventilators and I’m definitely grabbing them.

To be honest, the popularity of ‘Boks died down a little, but with its anniversary years and tie-ups with celebrities (Kendrick Lamar, etc.), do you think it can make a comeback in a big way?
Yes of course! I believe that every brand has its chance to shine and is popular in a certain way. Celebrity tie-ups certainly has its impact on the brand. However, what matters to me most is quality and workmanship. I’m sure many have spotted the great job done by Reebok in 2014. It’s definitely going to be another crazy year!

Where do you usually go to acquire your sneakers?
I visit the local stores first. I only purchase them online if they’re not available at retail stores. I’m always thankful to have friends who hook me up with the real exclusive kicks.

Which is the most difficult pair you’ve acquired and how did you manage to secure them?
After being able to secure my pair of Bape x Mita x Reebok Insta Pump Fury, I went on a hunt for a pair of AAPE x Reebok Insta Pump Fury, hoping to complete the pack. However, due to the hype, it was really difficult to find a pair at a reasonable price. eBay ended my misery just a few months ago when I managed to snap up the AAPE Pump Fury for way lower than resellers’ prices. Shout out to the eBay seller who sold it to me at a decent price after checking out my collection!

Are you currently on the hunt for anything?
Yes, I’m still looking for the last pair of Insta Pump Fury that I am missing from the 20th Anniversary, 11 by Boris Bidjan Saberi x 24 Kilates x Reebok Insta Pump Fury. Any kind soul that comes across a size 9, please hit me up!

How do you care for and store your collection?
I normally clean my shoes after every wear, leave them out to dry and put them back into the original boxes. Due to the humidity level in Singapore, I store my sneakers in my bedroom where it’s usually air-conditioned. I also try to rotate my sneakers as much as I can.

What do you enjoy most about sneaker collecting?
Being able to meet new friends with the same passion and love for sneakers. Nothing is more rewarding than that.

What does your family think of your sneaker stash?
They were against the idea of me spending so much money on them, and convincing them wasn’t easy. I think they’ve slowly accepted my sneaker obsession.

Is there any other shoe model that can come between you and your Reebok Insta Pump Furys? If so, what is it?
My first love will still be the Reebok Insta Pump Fury. However, I would keep my options open for Reebok’s other models.
