5 Tracks for This Week’s Grind: Liss, Panic! at the Disco, SZA and More

This week we mellow things out a little with a mix of slow jams, stripped-down cuts and a whole lotta R&B from peeps like SZA, Liss and Panic! at the Disco.

1) Liss, “Sorry”

For a band that has been in the scene for only 18 months, the amount of potential that Liss has is apparently enough to score themselves a deal with XL Recordings. Having released three tracks so far, the band’s signature sound seems to be electronic R&B, with experimental tunes that’s dripping with melancholy. On this track, they croon “Sorry for all the shit that I’ve done” but they’ve got absolutely nothing to apologize for – sorry never sounded better!

2) Panic! At The Disco, “Victorious (RAC Remix)”

Panic! At The Disco will be performing in Singapore soon, so we can’t help but share one of our favorite PATD tunes that has been the OST of our angsty teenage years – “Victorious”. In this version, though, the rock-anthem track gets a total makeover courtesy of Portugese producer, RAC. Replacing the sounds of guitars with synths, this remix is a summer-friendly hit that’s bound to leave you just as hooked.

3) SZA, “twoAM”

SZA puts out a fresh drop in the form of a remix of Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Come And See Me”. She strips down the track, gives the tune a good spin and switches up the lyrics to convey the feelings of a side chick who’s aware she’s being used but is in too deep to leave. Sounds familiar?

4) Trippy Turtle, “Take U Down”

Now this is exactly how you breathe new life into a slow jam. Trippy Turtle has taken it upon themselves to remix Breezy’s trademark bedroom hit, and boy does it work out. They pay homage to the sultry track with down-tempo vocals and a slow start, before building up into a chorus that’s full of frenetic energy.

5) Sampha, “Timmy’s Prayer”

This is London-bred singer-songwriter-producer Sampha’s first solo since 2013. The track features his familiar, dragged out vocals over a soulful, electronic instrumentation. The singer took to Facebook to post a message addressed to his fans before the track’s release. In the post, he mentioned his past struggles and thanked fans for their support through the difficult times. We’re definitely looking forward to his future projects.
