Featured as BBC’s Sound of 2010, Last year, Two Door Cinema Club followed up their successful debut through a great sophomore effort with their second album, Beacon. Hailing from Northern Ireland, the trio has won crowds over in various festivals, including Glastonbury, Coachella and SummerSonic this year.

Tegan and Sara

The Canadian indie rock twins will be touring in support of their seventh studio album Heartthrob, which was released in January 2013 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Influenced by synth pop and punk rock, the sisters who’ve been making music since 1995, have gained a steadfast following and been nominated for numerous awards, including the Juno Awards (quite a few times) and a Grammy Award for their Get Along DVD.

Kyoto Protocol

Kyoto Protocol is perhaps one of the most exciting acts to watch in the Malaysian music scene. In 2011, the band released their debut 5-track offering, An Album, with their first single Pussycat clinching the top spot on the Hitz.FM’s Malaysian English Top 10, FlyFM’s Campur Chart and TraxxFM’s Upstage Charts. No longer strangers to the big stage, they have opened for international acts such as MGMT, Yuna, CITIZENS!, We The Kings, and most recently, The Killers.

Obedient Wives Club

Capturing the quintessential sounds of lo-fi Spectorgaze, Singapore’s Obedient Wives Club released their self-titled four-track debut EP in late 2011, which was voted by SEA INDIE as one of the Top 10 Southeast Asia’s Best Indie-pop Releases of 2010-11. On February 2013, the band released their sophomore EP titled Murder Kill Baby. And mostly, you don’t want to miss the band that doesn’t care too much about being weird, or not having a management, a publicist, or the help of crowd-funding.

The Comedy Club KL
