Don’t miss Acoustic Anarchy REDUX, an exhibition featuring SBTG’s works of art that are at once rebellious and spirited, now showing at Galerie Steph till August 31st.

SBTG is more than a sneaker customising studio and its ongoing exhibition Acoustic Anarchy REDUX at Galerie Steph is a reminder of that.
Presented by the husband and wife duo behind SBTG, Mark Ong and Sue-Anne Lim, the exhibition features fruits of their labour splashed across various mediums including wood, canvas, flags, and skateboard decks.
There’s a backstory too, of course. The Acoustic Anarchy series is a semi-biographical account of Mark’s life growing up in Singapore. It captures the struggle against conformity and the spirit of rebellion, and also celebrates the subcultures that have informed both his life and artistic practice.
In describing the series, Mark says, “Our recent works explore an alternative universe: life as an American teenager in the 80s – the golden era of skateboarding, and the birth of a new movement. In this fictitious world of Acoustic Anarchy, skateboarding is an occupation, punk rock is a religion and Henry Rollins is god.”
All works shown are for sale with the exception of those that have been sold. Worth mentioning are the skateboard decks – only 30 pieces were created and they are up for grabs at $200 a pop before GST (also known as #tbt or “too bad tax” as we like to call it).
