adidas Consortium Stan Smith x Y’s: 5 of 5 Asian Collaborations – 15 March 2014

Rounding up the Asian collaboration pack is none other than renowned fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto.

Last but not least in the adidas Consortium Stan Smith Asian collaborative pack is avant-garde fashion designer and longtime collaborator Yohji Yamamoto. The Japanese has partnered with adidas for over a decade under the popular Y-3 label and has incorporated vision from his Y’s line into his version of the Stan Smith.

Yamamoto’s work on the Stan Smith leaves only the silhouette recognizable. Thick navy canvas cover most of the side uppers, with grey suede accents occupying the eye-stay and heel tab. White smooth leather on the toe box and tongue provide contrasting detail. The original perforated 3-Stripes has been replaced by hand-stitch style zig-zag embroidery, with leftover threads that are meant to fray with use. Finally, Stan Smith wordings and the adidas trefoil are debossed on the heel, while the Y’s logo sits on the tongue.
