Way before Manchester United were winning trophies all around Europe, the club was known as Newton Heath LYR Football Club. To celebrate the club’s humble beginnings, which took root 140 years ago, the three stripes pay homage with a special Samba sneaker dubbed Newton Heath.
The Samba is apt for this collaboration as it is a football-inspired silhouette. Back in the day, Newton Heath LYR Football Club sported green and gold kits instead of the red, black and white which Manchester United rock on the pitch these days. In the same vein, the Newton Heath comes in a green suede with gold branding on the medial side and tongue. Other details include a black sockliner and midsole, a Red Devil on the right heel tab and the year of establishment slapped on the heel of the sneaker.
It is rumoured that only 1,200 pairs of the Newton Heath Samba will be made available, so be quick if you want to cop a pair.
The Adidas x Manchester United Samba will drop at size?‘s Manchester outlet and the Adidas website. The shoe will retail at £89.95 (approx. S$156) and drops December 7.
