Amiera Raushan is the next sneakerhead in our Straat Your Stuff series. Her vibrant sneaker collection is a reflection of her knack for blending bright colors, textures and modest wear with streetwear sensibilities. 

Amiera’s collection is a mix of old-school and modern kicks. You’ll find Nike Dunks next to futuristic kicks like the Vapormax 2020.

Amiera Raushan’s modest take on streetwear is refreshing. And rather than deferring to the trend of muted color palettes, her outfits reflect her love for bold patterns, textures and colors. Just a quick scroll through her Instagram feed showcases a vibrant spin on streetwear, in a time when everyone prefers muted, earth tones. We invited Amiera to be our next Straat Your Stuff feature and chatted with her about her love for Dunks and the fashion icons she looks to for inspiration.

Tell us how you got into sneakers?
I’ve only ever wanted to wear sneakers ever since I was a kid! I do have a couple of sandals and heels but I barely wear them.

How many sneakers do you own?
As of now, probably roughly 25 pairs? The worn-out ones have been disposed of! I really wear my shoes till death.

Which sneaker in your collection is the most valuable?
Definitely, the Nike VaporMax 2020 Flyknit release as that was the first shoe gifted by Nike for a collaboration!

Which sneaker or silhouette do you love the most?
Air Max TNs are my favorite. Something about this design makes me feel cute when I wear them. They will always be my ‘alien’ shoes.

We see that you have quite a few Dunks. What do you like about them?
I love how it was once a basketball shoe and now it has naturally been translated to street style. I like to pair my outfits with the Dunks I have! They are pretty bright in color so that is a unique factor for me cos I love wearing the brightest of things.

Which sneaker in your collection did you pay resale for? How much did you drop on it?
As much as I am a huge sneaker fan, I’d never spend a bomb on resale shoes!

Amiera always goes for bold, choosing sneakers that match her vibrant personal style.

Which sneaker do you use as a beater?
It would definitely be my Black Nike Air Force 1. Classic.

What’s your current favorite sneaker?
Maybe just maybe, it would be my brand new Nike Dunk High LX. I adore anything puffy that looks like a sleeping bag so this pair of shoes are perfect! Plus it’s made with at least 20% recycled content by weight.

The 80’s and 90’s has a huge influence on Amiera’s collection, which contains multiple icons from the era like the Air Max 90, Dunk Lows and Air Force 1s. The ’90s-inspired Aqua Rift makes it into her collection as well.

Is there a celebrity or style icon who influences the sneakers you buy?
My style icons are Yuna (@yuna), Peggy Gou (@peggygou_), Tara Basro (@tarabasro), Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) and content creator Evelynn Escobar (@evemeetswest)!

If you had to get rid of all your sneakers except one, which sneaker would you keep?
None! I’d rather have no shoes at all and sob.
