Apple unveils its latest iPhone models, energized with vibrant colors and a new set of cameras

The iPhone X series will make way for three new Apple iPhone models this year – the iPhone 11, Pro and Pro Max.

Apple revealed its new lineup of iPhones earlier today.

While we won’t be seeing 5G support on these models, Apple is making up for it with significant upgrades to the camera and line-up of colors.

Apple has finally lifted the lid to unveil its latest smartphone lineup this year. Similar to last year, Apple introduces three new models – the iPhone 11 and two premium devices it calls the Pro and Pro Max. These effectively succeed the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max respectively. But is it worth the upgrade? Perhaps. The new vibrant colors across all three models and enhanced camera capabilities might just convince you.

Display

The displays across this year’s new iPhones do not differ much from their predecessors.

First up, all of the new iPhone 11 models feature the same display dimensions as the previous X series – 6.1 inch LCD, 5.8 inch OLED, and 6.5 inch OLED for the iPhone 11, Pro and Pro Max respectively. The key difference lies in the Pro and Pro Max models, which boast a Super Retina XDR display. This new OLED display supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, giving it the highest pixel density of any Apple device. In terms of the brightness and contrast ratio, this puts the new high-end models in the same bracket as the Mac Pro.

Colors

It’s all about the vibrant color options.

The selection of colors is unbelievable this year. The base-model iPhone 11 comes in six color options, from purple, green, yellow, black, white and PRODUCT(RED). The Pro models, on the other hand, come in four colors – midnight green, space grey, silver, and gold. If the popularity of the iPhone XR model is any indication, this new mix of vibrant and classic colors will surely be a hit.

Camera

The feature everyone is excited about – the camera.

It’s the biggest talking point of all – Apple has gone big with the iPhone camera this year. For starters, all three iPhones will come with a better 12-megapixel front-facing camera, replacing the 7-megapixel setup on last year’s models. But here’s where things get interesting. The iPhone 11 now features a dual-camera system which pairs a wide and ultra-wide angle lens. The premium line definitely edges out the base model in this aspect with three rear cameras, including a telephoto lens. Without a doubt, the phones’ 4K video recording capabilities remain. Plus, photos taken in low-light settings are now better off with the availability of “night mode”. Say goodbye to overexposed flash-induced photos at night.

Of course, the iPhone 11 models have been ramped up with a faster A13 Bionic processor (the fastest in a smartphone, according to Apple) and the all-new iOS 13 system update. If you’re looking to upgrade your current smartphone, the iPhone 11, Pro and Pro Max models will launch in Singapore on September 20. Pre-orders begin this Friday, September 13 at apple.com/sg.
