Aston Villa Announces John Terry’s Signing by Posting WhatsApp Conversation

We can’t decide whether or not Aston Villa’s announcement is cringe-worthy.

The WhatsApp styled announcement shows an imaginary conversation between Aston Villa players, owner Tony Xia, and manager Steve Bruce.

After questions from the football club’s players, John Terry replied to the fictional WhatsApp group to say “Great to be here boys! Let’s get this club back up to the Premier League.”

Terry’s entry into Aston Villa is welcomed by players including Jonathan Kodjia, Jack Grealish, and Gabby Agbonlahor.

As if threatened, the club’s previous defenders Martin Laursen, Olof Mellberg, and Paul McGrath were seen leaving the fictional group chat.

Aston Villa fans aren’t too happy with the announcement. Some have called it “the worst thing they’ve seen”, while others have deemed the Twitter post “embarrassing”.

Nevertheless, the club’s ranking is expected to increase with the introduction of Terry. The former Captain of England had also helped Chelsea score the Premier League title in 2016/17.

In addition, scored the title of PFA’s (The Professional Footballer’s Association) Player of the Year in 2005.
