At the recent Paris Fashion Week, Comme des Garçon unveiled their SS20 collection, along with a surprise collaboration with Nike – two variants of the Nike SB Dunk Low. Both versions feature the same translucent, hyperfuse-like uppers, black swooshes on the lateral sides, black leather-like heel tab and midsole. Both sneakers even have grey overlays that mimic the paneling you would normally see on the classic Nike SB Dunk Lows. The main design difference between the two versions is that one of them bears the white CDG monogram under the translucent uppers.
The Comme des Garçon x Nike Dunk Lows bring to mind Dior’s B23 High-Top sneakers from 2018. If that sneaker showed us anything, it’s that people love a translucent upper with monogram prints. So this sneaker might be a one to keep an eye out for.

Eagle-eyed fans have called out some very notable differences between the SB Dunks we know and love and the Comme des Garçon x Nike Dunk Low sneakers. Mainly, the new sneakers do not feature the typical thick, padded tongue and have a narrower profile. This difference gives a formal, oxford-like shape to the CDG x Nike Dunk Lows.
This isn’t the first time the avant-garde Japanese label has tinkered with the Nike SB Dunk. A previous collab with the Nike SB Dunk high top featured a mostly transparent upper, which was eye-catching, to say the least.
No drop date has been set for the Comme des Garçon x Nike Dunk Low sneakers or the SS20 collection. Stay tuned for updates!
