The Comme des Garçons x Nike Dunk Low finally has a drop date! The CDG x Nike Dunk Low will drop on May 23 for S$430. The sneaker will come in US women’s sizes 5-12 and men’s 3.5-10.5. You can grab yourself a pair on the DSM E-Shop.
We first got a glimpse of the Comme des Garçons x Nike Dunk Low in October 2019, during Paris Fashion Week. It got quite a lot of attention for resembling the Dior B23 – a sneaker that also played with translucent uppers and monochrome prints. This time, images from @solebyjc give us a closer look at two colorways of the Comme des Garçons x Nike Dunk Low.
We’ve known from previous leaks that both sneakers will have synthetic uppers set atop black midsoles. One colorway will be for men and the other for women. The men’s colorway is much bolder, with letter monograms scattered all over the uppers. The women’s colorway is more muted, with minimalistic color blocking that plays with blacks and greys.
Both sneakers get massive alterations at the hands of CDG. The padded tongue is flattened, and the layers of padding normally seen around the heel is removed. The uppers are now constructed out of a thin synthetic material – a departure from the layers of leather seen on traditional Dunks. Sections of the uppers are raised or colorized to recreate the look of the panels, retaining some resemblance to the classic skate sneaker. At the heel of both sneakers are leather tabs that have the Nike branding embossed on them.
The Comme des Garçons x Nike Dunk Low is slated to drop at Dover Street Market Singapore. However, due to the developing Covid-19 situation, the drop date has not been confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
