Fearless and bold: here’s how to style the Converse One Star Fall/Holiday 2018 collection

With the Converse One Star, five stars is nothing.

For Fall/Holiday 2018, the iconic Converse One Star sneakers arrive in an array of colorways that is fit for the misfits.

There are no barriers to entry where it comes to slipping on a pair of Converse One Star sneakers. There are no rules save for one – be yourself – a mind frame that Converse continues to drive through its Rated One Star campaign, which for the Fall/Holiday 2018 season is fronted by Bradford bad-boy, Zayn Malik.

Here in Singapore, two standout personalities, independent filmmaker Jasper Tan and singer/songwriter Sam Rui, step up to the mantle to express their versions of what it means to be fearless and bold.

While Sam and Jasper specialize in different crafts, they share the same values that are pivotal to unlocking creativity to its fullest extent, achieved only with authenticity through individuality.

You may not recognize Jasper since the lensman is usually behind the camera. You would, however, instantly identify his unique point of view which tends to infiltrate his work including the music video for rapper Yung Raja’s smash hit, “Mustafa”.

Sam, on the other hand, is no stranger to the public eye. The R&B crooner has been recording and uploading her self-written tracks onto YouTube and SoundCloud from the tender age of 16. To date, Sam has performed at festivals including the Laneway Singapore (2016) and Ultra Music Festival (2017) and she will also be debuting an exciting new project this season in collaboration with a Korean female rapper.

To arrive at this point in their careers, Jasper and Sam have exhibited the personality, attitude and a level of defiance that inspires confidence – status quo be damned. Their unique style is truly an extension of themselves – fearless and bold, a true representation of the Converse One Star.

Here’s how these two pull off their effortlessly cool looks while rocking the Converse One Star sneakers.

1. Denim for days

Once an unthinkable fashion disaster, now a defiant style sported by the cool and cavalier. Don’t wear denim of the same wash or weight. Do pair the outfit with the Converse One Star – any of the three colorways from the Carnival pack works.

2. Smart casual

Look put together but stay comfortable. It’s not dull. It’s smart casual. Who says you can’t be two things at once?

3. The boyfriend shirt
