According to a Netflix Singapore spokesperson, the removal of Disney and Pixar films affect only US Netflix members. The move will not affect Netflix members in other parts of the world.

Disney leaves Netflix to launch its own streaming platform slated to launch in 2019.

According to CNBC, Disney’s streaming platform will be home to all future movies including Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, and the live-action remake of The Lion King.

The platform will also host past movies, tv shows, short-form content, and other branded exclusives.

Disney will pull all of its titles from Netflix by the end of 2018. Pixar titles will be removed as well. Marvel TV shows, however, will remain on Netflix.

Besides launching its own streaming platform, Disney is also planning to introduce an exclusive streaming service for ESPN. Targeted to launch early 2018, it promises “10,000 live regional, national, and international games and events a year”, reports The Verge.

To power these new services, Disney has acquired a major ownership of BAMTech, a video streaming platform. It paid a total of US$1.58billion to acquire a 75% stake in the company.
