The collaboration, titled “My Half”, was unveiled the designer’s Shanghai Fashion Week show.

Converse has been working with designers to put creative twists on the iconic Chuck Taylor line. From the Dr. Woo with its tearaway upper to JW Anderson’s Felt upper Chuck Taylors, we get yet another unique spin on the silhouette, this time from Feng Chen Wang.

The Chinese-born designer remixes both the low-top and high-top versions of the Chuck Taylor. The low-top is transformed into a sandal-like construction, with the back panel removed and replaced with a functional strap. An additional strap can also be found on the forefoot. The traditional lacing system remains intact to ensure maximum lockdown.

The high-tops, however, come in two different versions. One of which has irregularly shaped cutouts to show off the second layer underneath. Socks are attached to this version of the sneaker, which comes in black/white, pink/white and olive/white colorways.

The second version of the high-tops is split between the front of the shoe and the back; and each half comes in a different color. The heel of the sneaker is also split and is held together by rope laces. This version comes in a black, pastel blue, army green and white colorways.

All of the sneakers from the Feng Chen Wang x Converse “My Half” collection will feature sole foxing, where the midsoles of the sneakers are exaggerated – an effect created by adding a second layer that is cut in half at the midfoot, heel and toe of the sneaker.

Expect the Feng Chen Wang x Converse “My Half” collection to drop in 2019.
