Launched on August 21, the series is a tribute to ASICS’ latest “Welcome to the Dojo” collection.
The mini-series features a cast of notable talents including online personality Luka Sabbat (Sneaker Samurai), rapper Princess Nokia (Kiku), and recording artist YFN Lucci (Ghost Samurai).
Inspired by the brand’s Japanese heritage, the mini-series follows the story of Sneaker Samurai and his sidekick Kiku in an adventure to find his stolen ASICS “Welcome to the Dojo” GEL-LYTE sneakers. The two heroes must fight against the opposing Rising Sun dojo to retrieve the lost shoes.
“Welcome to the Dojo” collection
The anime series is created to promote ASICS’ “Welcome to the Dojo” collection. Comprising footwear and apparel, the collection made its debut on August 24 at all Foot Locker stores.
The pack offers two sneaker silhouettes – the ASICS GEL-LYTE 1 and the ASICS GEL-DIABLO – in two striking yellow and black colorways. According to HotNewHipHop, the shoes are priced at US$90 (approx. S$124) for the GEL-LYTE 1 and US$120 (approx. S$165) for the . GEL-DIABLO. The apparel line-up offers t-shirts, hoodies, and pants adorned with Japanese lettering and snake graphics. The “Welcome to the Dojo” pack will not be available in Singapore.
