The J Balvin x Nike Air Jordan 3 “Medellín Sunset” is the third sneaker to drop as part of the duo’s long-running partnership. The sneaker attempts to recreate beautiful sunsets that are seen in J Balvin’s hometown of Medellin, Colombia. This is achieved through a gradient mix of yellow, orange-pink and purple on the midsole and translucent heel tab. Before the subtle and neutral Air Jordan 3, Balvin delivered bold iterations of the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 2.
It is set to drop on September 23 for S$315 and will be available at select retailers and on Nike SNKRS.
If you are looking to own a more subtle pair, general-release versions and prior drops are currently available at Nike.com.
Fresh out of the box, the Air Jordan 3 doesn’t take too long to break in especially when compared to other high-top performance basketball sneakers. Jordan Brand tends to use relatively soft leathers on the upper and the thick padding on the tongue and inner lining helps to add a very plush on-foot feel.
In terms of a high-top silhouette, it also sits at a comfortable height – tall enough to provide support without restricting movement. In the case of the AJ3, it sits right around your ankle. For some, this may be the perfect entry into owning and rocking high-top retros daily.
Underfoot, the Air Jordan 3 boasts a full-length polyurethane midsole complete with an Air unit in the heel of the sneaker. This tried-and-tested formula is very comfortable underfoot, offering enough impact protection while necessity stability around the mid and forefoot. Combined with the traction offered by the outsole, you have a sneaker that can be worn comfortably daily.
The Nike Air Jordan 3 fits a little tight for most people due to the last amount of padding on the sock liner and tongue. If you are looking for a tight fit, you can opt to stay true to size, but we recommend considering going half a size up. If you own an Air Jordan 1 in a US 9, you will likely want to pick up an Air Jordan 3 in a US 9.5.
The AJ3s can pretty easily be incorporated into most outfits. Its simple design and wide silhouette pair perfectly with jeans, shorts, cargos and pants – it’s very adaptable. We would recommend wider cuts to match the width and for longer pants to sit nicely on the collar with a small stack.
As for colorways, the Air Jordan 3 generally arrives in neutral white or black colorways with hits of simple colors. If you are looking to rock it daily, we would recommend opting for neutral colorways like classic white collegiate colorways and off-white color schemes.
