Sneaker drops: Seven kicks to cop this week

2019 is getting off on the right foot with all these sneaker drops in January.

Sneaker Drops

The CDG x Nike Air Presto Foot Tent

With seven releases primed for this week, we break down every sneaker drop.

Nike looks to bring its outstanding 2018 run into the new year as they drop collaboration after collaboration in just the first two weeks of the year. Adidas and Puma also have new launches this week. Here are our top sneaker drops for the second week of January.

Nike x Martine Rose Air Monarch IV
January 12

Sneaker Drops

The Nike x Martine Rose Air Monarch IV may be the most unique sneaker you will see this year. With an intentionally deformed upper, the sneaker will definitely catch eyes and start conversations. Coming in three colorways, this Air Monarch IV will be the most expensive iteration of the silhouette. Check out our full breakdown of the sneaker here.

Sneaker Drops

Officially dropping today on the Nike website, the Nike x Cav Empt Air Max 95 is part of the capsule collection between the swoosh and the Japanese label. Staying on theme with the retro-futuristic/cyberpunk vibes of the label, these sneakers are wrapped with a digi camo print. Check out our full breakdown of the sneaker here.

Nike x CDG Air Presto Foot Tent

The CDG x Nike Air Presto Foot Tent

CDG is famed for its knack of turning the unwanted and the ugly into some of the most desirable pieces in fashion. This revival of the Air Presto Foot Tent — originally released in 2002 — is no exception. It did not sell very well then, which is probably why Nike pulled it from the shelves. However, with CDG co-branding, the sneaker may just fly off the shelves this time. Check out our breakdown of the sneaker here.

Nike Air Max2 Light
January 11

Sneaker Drops

Nike brings back the Air Max2 Light for a second stint in the market — the latest in its revival of vintage and retro sneakers over the past two years. This sneaker will feature leather and mesh panels on the upper. Coming in a gold, crimson and blue colorway, the Air Max2 Light is definitely a 90s throwback.

Nike Vapormax 2019
January 10

Sneaker Drops

Nike’s latest iteration of the Vapormax sees a huge change in the upper. Moving away from their trusty Flyknit, the swoosh has changed it up and slapped a translucent TPU upper on it. Considering the success of Off-White’s TEN Collection and the React 87s from last year, Nike looks to nudge the Vapormax in the same direction. Check out our breakdown of the sneaker here.

  • Available online on Nike.com – S$279

Adidas Nite Jogger
January 12

Sneaker Drops

Adidas breathes new life into a classic silhouette as they introduce a Boost sole to the silhouette from the 70s. Utilizing ripstop nylon, mesh, and suede for the upper, the Adidas Nite Jogger definitely has a premium feel to it. The orange embellishments on the sneaker are also reflective, keeping you lit even in the dark.

Bradley Theodore x Puma Thunder
January 12

Sneaker Drops

Bradley Theodore is a New York-based visual artist whose style includes heavy brushwork with bold and poppy colors. He is partnering with Puma for a capsule collection comprising garments and a few sneakers. We chose the Puma Thunder for its simplicity and efficient details. A product of the chunky shoe trend, the Puma Thunder gets a remixed upper for this collaboration. An almost full black leather upper is accented with chalk-like strokes. A contrasting yellow sockliner adds to the pop of color while a skull, designed by Theodore, is found just under the pull tab as part of the co-branding.

  • Available at Puma outlets at Bugis+, MBS and islandwide at AW LAB, CK Tangs, Limited Edt., STAR 360 and The Social Foot.
