Blurred lines: luxury streetwear lifestyle meets performance gear.

Nike has finally released the first looks from its upcoming Nike Matthew Williams collaboration. Alyx founder and designer, Matthew M. Williams, brings his luxury streetwear ethos to the house of Swoosh and perfectly blends luxury aesthetics with performance gear. The 18-piece collection will be housed under Nike’s Training category, making this one of its first major collaborations with a fashion division.

The Nike Matthew Williams collaboration collection includes technical outerwear, monochrome leggings and even accessories ranging from socks, face masks and towels in its men’s, women’s, and unisex lineup. Though exact product photos have yet to be released, the collection is looking like a clear blend of athletic silhouettes with Alyx’s signature minimalist utilitarian details.

Training apparel is usually created with function as its core priority. The aesthetic of training apparel is typically totally informed solely by a garment’s purpose. However, for this collection, Matthew Williams aims to give a human touch to the data-driven pieces. The designer finds working in tandem with data and emotion super interesting for him. After making his name by deftly balancing a luxury aesthetic and an eye for utility in his own label Alyx, Matthew builds on his experience and style by using computational design and computer data when creating his designs for this collaboration.

The highly-anticipated Nike Matthew Williams collaboration will launch on July 12.
