There’s only one word to describe the official Off-White x Futura Nike SB Dunk Low reveal earlier this week. It’s destiny – a meeting of three significant icons of street culture: Virgil Abloh, the modern-day messenger of streetwear; Futura, the godfather of street art; and last but not least, the iconic Nike SB Dunk Low – the silhouette that propelled sneaker culture to levels of hysteria. If you’re still in disbelief, snap out of it. A collaboration of this magnitude is actually happening.
Virgil Abloh employs the “Syracuse” orange colorway and the “UNC” blue on the iconic Nike SB Dunk Low – a silhouette the designer had not touched until now. Signature Off-White x Nike details like the exposed tongue, zip-tie tag and the texts on the sneaker’s medial side and laces make their way to this collaboration.
But Futura’s trademark touches are also featured, with spray paint-like blotches on the panels, his signature all-over the insoles, and the words “Nike Dunk Low” across the Swoosh in his handwriting. Additionally, the heel also features the initials ‘FL’ signifying the legendary artist’s recently relaunched brand, Futura Laboratories. A key highlight of this Off-White x Futura Nike SB Dunk Low collab has got to be the additional laces which start from the toebox before laying over the original laces. While a bit of an oddity, it certainly lends itself well to the already crazy collaboration.
An official release date has yet to be announced. Check back with us when more information is available.
