With Paris Fashion Week officially done and dusted, we look back at the many moments seen on the runway.

Puma x Han Kjobenhaven

We list down our favorite Paris Fashion Week 2019 sneakers, from Junya Watanabe to JW Anderson.

Paris Fashion Week is always a high point in the fashion calendar year. All the top designers – from Jun Takahashi of Undercover to Virgil Abloh at Off-White and Louis Vuitton – come out guns blazing to show off their upcoming collections. Although sneakers may not be the star of the week, the imminent convergence of high fashion and streetwear is paving the way for more sneaker collaborations to be showcased. We list down our favorite Paris Fashion Week 2019 sneakers spotted on the runways.

Heron Preston x Nike Huarache EDGE

Nike x Heron Preston Huarache EDGE in black.

At the American’s first runway show just a week ago, we were treated to not one but two shoe collaborations from Heron Preston. However, we have to give the Nike collaboration the edge over the UGGS. Utilizing the Huarache EDGE, Heron Preston adds his eponymous label’s colors and branding onto the sneaker. Check out our breakdown of the sneaker here.

New Balance x Junya Watanabe

Dad shoes have risen to cult popularity with the likes of the Triple S and the Nike M2K Tekno. However, everyone seems to forget about the ultimate dad-shoe brand: New Balance. Junya Watanabe’s show seemed to glorify “grandad” fashion with clean and dapper looks, but we noticed some new New Balance colorways. With three silhouettes seen on the runway, the 990v5, 1500 and 574, the sneakers look as premium as New Balance gets. However, we are not sure if this is an official collaboration or just a special makeup (SMU) for the show.

Han Kjobenhaven x Puma Alteration

When a designer works with a sneaker brand, we often see them take the reins and unveil a new silhouette. Take for example Raf Simons at Adidas with the Ozweego and Kiko Kostadinov at Asics with the Gel-Burz 1. Similarly, Danish designer Han Kjobenhaven has created the Alteration, the latest collaboration with Puma. Coming in a chunky silhouette, we see a high profile midsole with a slimmer upper silhouette. Puma branding is only found on the heel of the Alteration.

Undercover x Nike

Undercover continues their relationship with Nike as they showcase two collaborative projects during their runway show. With color blocking a major theme of the show, we see the Nike Air Max 720 in yellow, black and red with speckled details. A ribbon lace has replaced the traditional lace.

Additionally, we saw a completely new sneakerboot that graced the runway this week. The only recognizable detail is the React sole with zippers and straps added for a non-traditional closure system. Definitely one to look out for.

Sacai x Nike

As Sacai produces more and more colorways of their collaboration with Nike, the hype surrounding it grows. Coming in new black and white colorways, the “doubled up” Waffle Racer and Blazer get new details: the Waffle Racer gets a fur detail running down the laces while the white Blazer gets a zipper closure.

JW Anderson x Converse 

JW Anderson had a very big year with Converse last year, releasing three collaborations with the American brand. The brand looks to keep the momentum rolling as they debuted another Chuck Taylor, this time with a platform midsole and a jagged sole. The sneaker is available for pre-order now on their website.

GmbH x Asics Gel-Kayano 5

Asics is looking to push the Gel-Kayano 5 big time this year with a multitude of colorways already released and a few collaborations that we’ve heard about through the grapevine. The latest has made an appearance on the runway of German brand GmbH, who showed off two colorways of the Gel-Kayano 5. These are slated for a release next winter.

Off-White “ODSY-1000”

Finally, we have Off-White, who had one of the more star-studded runways with Offset and Playboi Carti both walking for Virgil Abloh. No more Nike “The Ten” colorways seen (thankfully) but we did see Abloh go for a more trek shoe approach with the footwear. What is next from the esteemed American desginer?
