Immerse yourself in Control Chaos: Phunk’s 25th anniversary exhibition

Singapore’s very own Phunk is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an exhibition chronicling its journey.

PHUNK 25th anniversary collective

Update: February 11, 4 pm (Singapore Time)

Creative Conversation with Phunk has been postponed due to the evolving Novel Coronavirus outbreak, following advisories issued by the World Health Organisation and Ministry of Health Singapore.

Control Chaos: 25 Years of Phunk will be held at the National Design Centre from February 14 till March 20.

Art and design collective Phunk was first formed in December 1994 by Alvin Tan, Melvin Chee, Jackson Tan and William Chan. To mark the collective’s momentous 25th anniversary this year, it’s holding an exhibition of its most recognizable work at the National Design Centre.

Often referred to as its creative philosophy, Control Chaos is one of the group’s most distinctive pieces and the namesake of the event. It also propelled the collective to develop and grow the distinct style that has brought its work to museums all over the world and even to brands like Nike, MTV and The Rolling Stones.

PHUNK 25th anniversary Eccentricity

Title: Eccentricity

Phunk draws on its members’ childhood memories, Chinese mythology and local landmarks like Haw Par Villa to create the Control Chaos collection. It reflects the artists’ perception of Heaven, Earth and Hell through the reflection and imagination of the artist at that time.
