The RIMOWA x OFF-WHITE transparent luggage premiered at the OFF-WHITE fashion show in Paris yesterday, June 20.

With these in tow, you’ll be traveling so stylishly, you might even earn airport officials’ stamp of approval before you know it.

“Behind the design”

Virgil Abloh approached the concept with transparency in mind, so to speak. With all the talk about privacy and governments spying on civilians, this seemed like an opportune moment to make a statement.

Furthermore, the designer often refers to his work and collaborations as experiments that allow him to satisfy his curiosity and explore his creative potential.

“This collaboration was an experimentation where we studied traveling and one’s emotional connection to their own personal belongings,” he explains.

For the collaboration, the luggage takes on RIMOWA’s Essential model case size, in a completely transparent casing made up of polycarbonate. Black accents seem to be the only colored features of the luggage, represented sparsely on the handles, wheels, and locks. Virgil’s visual language is seen in signature OFF-WHITE style on the locks and telescopic handle. Also offered are backpack-like straps that replicate the style of OFF-WHITE belts for easy carry-on.

Each luggage features RIMOWA’s silent Multi-wheel system, transparent amenity kit, and an extra set of wheels in OFF-WHITE Orange.

“The availability”

The exclusive RIMOWA x OFF-WHITE luggage will be available in select RIMOWA and OFF-WHITE stores, at select wholesale partners, and in a pop-up store on wechat. No word yet as to whether or not the luggage will retail at RIMOWA stores in Singapore.
