Sneaker Freaker has collaborated with Asics to dress the iconic Gel Lyte 3 in a bold mix of beige and pink. The sneaker, a classic among sneakerheads, has a history of stellar collaborations. Kith’s Ronnie Fieg, Mark Ong of SBTG and Slam Jam among those who have taken on the silhouette to produce unique renditions of it.
This year, Australian magazine Sneaker Freaker steps up for another take on the Gel Lyte 3, almost ten years after its “Alvin Purple” collaboration. The Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Lyte 3 “Tiger Snake” features premium details and a striking colorway. Here’s a look at the unique sneaker, designed with Australia’s tiger snakes and Asics’ origins as the Onitsuka Tiger company in mind.
The upper of the sneaker is made up of premium light brown cowhide leather, which is contrasted with pink/orange accents on the eyelets, mudguard, and overlays. The black leather-wrapped heel adds a further touch of luxury, as does the debossed gold signature text. Finishing off the majestic makeup is a full coral pink outsole, which matches easily with the tonal speckled midsole and laces.
