In a time not too long ago, George Lucas would write and produce a film that would become a cult classic for generations of children. As these children grew older, they sought unique ways to incorporate the Force into their lives. Brands capitalized on this desire to rep Star Wars by creating merchandise that blends the universes of fashion with that of Star Wars. Today, on Star Wars Day celebrated annually on May 4 (because, “May the Fourth”), we take a look at some of the best Star Wars streetwear collaborations to date.
The two cult brands came together to drop a collection in time for the launch of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. The extensive 44-piece collection applied the film’s visuals onto classic Vetements silhouettes which includes logo T-shirts, oversized hoodies, socks, caps, backpacks, evening dresses and high heels.
In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Bape and Star Wars came together to create an apparel and figure collection. The t-shirt collection merged classic Bape motifs with Star Wars branding and posters. It also included Baby Milo rendition of icon Star Wars characters.
The ongoing collaboration between Star Wars and Adidas turns some of the most iconic intergalactic characters and machinery into sneakers that you can rock daily. The application of recognizable character traits onto Adidas silhouettes make for some amazing collectible footwear and conversation starters. The sheer variety of designs means there is something for everyone.
Just as denim transcends every trend in fashion, so has Star Wars in the cinematic universe. For their collaboration, Levi’s applied Star Wars graphics to their ‘80s and ‘90s apparel, which fits the timing of the original release of the film. Arriving in light side and dark side themes, the collection came with t-shirts and sweatshirts to character-themed hoodies, galaxy jeans and graphic denim jackets.
The Asos x Star Wars collaboration mixes franchise-inspired prints onto sleek modern silhouettes. The simple, light collection spans both men’s and women’s designs, each bearing scripts from the film paired with out-of-the-world graphics.
GQ named the Star Wars x Rag & Bones collab one of the most stylish movie-based merch ever made. Movie references were applied with a light hand, resulting in more subtle touches as seen in the pieces from the collection which includes sweaters, tees, cargo pants and utility jackets. The cherry on top is the monotone color scheme that keeps the entire collection wearable.
This mega project initiated by Uniqlo was helmed by Japanese design giants Nigo (Human Made), Jun Takahashi (Undercover) and Tetsu Nishiyama (Wtaps). Each one of these legends reinterpreted and reworked Star Wars imagery to create an iconic and unforgettable collection.
Medicom and Star Wars have collaborated multiple times to create limited edition runs of themed Be@rbricks. Over three collections, Medicom has created adorable and prized renditions of Ewoks, Darth Vader, C-3PO, Sith Trooper and Kylo Ren mostly coming in both the 100% and 400% sizes.
