We attended the Supreme x Louis Vuitton Singapore ballot at ION Orchard earlier this morning. Here are four sob stories that we learnt from disappointed fans today.
By John Yong
A broken leg from a motorcycle accident didn’t deter wheelchair-bound Emmanuel from showing up at the queue raffle.
Emmanuel joined the queue at 6am, and was ushered right to the front due to his injury. He became one of the first in line to ballot for his number.
Unfortunately, it was all for naught as he was presented with a ballot number which was in the “600-ish” range. Only those who received ballot numbers “001” to “350” will be shopping the collection tomorrow morning.
Queuing alone for the raffle was Hakim, a fan from Malaysia. Waiting patiently for three days and two nights, he desperately wanted to cop some Supreme x LV goods to bring back to his friends in Malaysia.
Sadly, his efforts didn’t pay off. LV announced the raffle would be randomized, which meant everyone in the queue stood an equal chance of getting a winning number, regardless of their position in the queue.
When asked to describe his experience, Hakim said it was “f##ked up”. He also said that it was “unfair” to those who bothered to queue up days in advance.
As you recall, people were selling their queue numbers in the unofficial queue on Carousell. We heard a story of how one lady paid S$4,000 for a spot in the unofficial queue.
When the unofficial queue was squashed by LV, she was pushed to the back of the new line. To make matters worse, she didn’t receive a winning ballot number. The only one that lucked out was the person who sold her his spot.
We overheard one guy complaining to his friends about how he had lost his ID while waiting for his turn to ballot. For those unaware, a photo ID was required for verification purposes.
Aside from losing his spot in the queue, the person who took his place when he vacated to look for his ID drew a winning ballot number. So close yet so far.
