Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami puts his own eccentric spin on the popular Yeezy Boost 350 V2.

Unveiled on Instagram earlier today, Murakami tore off the toe and heel portion of the Yeezy Boost 350 V2, essentially turning them into flip-flops.

To add insult to injury, he also affixed patches of Smiling Flowers, his signature character, onto the defaced shoes.

In a second post, the artist himself is seen modeling the destroyed shoes-turned-sandals.

We don’t quite know what the point of this exercise is. Irony? Creativity? What we do know: Yeezy fans must be heartbroken seeing their favorite sneakers in this state.

Would you wear these Yeezy sandals by Murakami? Let us know in the comments below.
