The Air Jordan 1 High ‘Next Chapter’ was created to coincide with the premiere of the upcoming movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” in June. The shoe was designed with the traditional “Chicago” colorway in mind, but the upper has undergone a transformation that incorporates a blend of materials and graphics that draw inspiration from the Spider-man film.
The design of the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse-inspired Air Jordan 1 shows a development from its previous iteration as it is now based on the concept of the multiverse while the earlier version was a Kirby Dot interpretation of the classic “Chicago” colorway. With a fragmented construction that is seen in almost every aspect of the shoe, the new design creates the illusion of being transported through a portal in space and time.

Going down to the details, the shoes’ paneling features a combination of leather and suede which have been treated with a distressed and patina-like finish. The Swoosh has a subtle iridescent effect, while the eye stays and ankle flaps showcase a graphic style that is reminiscent of the pages of a comic book.
