The AJ1 Zoom Esports is teeming with LoL easter eggs

The Air Jordan 1 Zoom Esports draws inspiration from gaming and esports. It drops on October 25.

The esports and gaming community is in the midst of one of their biggest championships—the League of Legends World Championships. To commemorate this momentous event, Nike is dropping the Air Jordan 1 Zoom Esports. Slated to drop on October 25, these kicks have something every game needs—easter eggs.

The first easter egg is the overall colorway, which is inspired by the Summoner’s Cup, aka the championship trophy. The AJ1 Zoom Esports gets a mix of black iridescent overlays set on grey suede in the toe box and midfoot. To break up the monotony of the black and grey, Nike has added crisp blue laces, sock liner and an outsole midsection. This combination of grey, iridescent black and blue not only coincides with the Summoner’s Cup, but all the competition skin packs released since 2012.

Another easter egg is seen on the tongue tab of the right shoe. The Jordan brand logo is surrounded by a blue outline of the Multiplayer Online Battlefield Arena (MOBA) map known as Summoner’s Rift—it’s here that 22 teams of 5 will battle it out for a prize pool of over US$2.5 million.

To keep up with current streetwear trends, the Air Jordan 1 Zoom Esports gets raw, exposed foam in the ankle collar and a receding swoosh. The sneaker, a protro (retro that has been updated with modern cushioning or tech), is fitted with an updated Air Zoom strobel-board, giving the timeless kicks modern comforts.
