It has been 25 years since Michael Jordan returned from his first retirement and dominated the courts with the Air Jordan 11 on feet. The sneaker has been inexplicably intertwined with MJ’s return and the Chicago Bull’s journey to their second three-peat. In commemoration of this amazing milestone, Jordan brand is releasing a Jubilee colorway of the Air Jordan 11 on December 12.
The Air Jordan 11 Jubilee gets a monotone colorway inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s original sketches of the sneaker. The upper gets a familiar mix of mesh and patent leather, all coming in the same shade of black.
A new edition on the upper are the words “JORDAN” on the lace eyelets and a metallic Jumpman takes the place of the embroidered Jumpman at the heel.
Similar to recent Air Jordan 11s, the patent leather that outlines the upper has been elevated, covering more of lateral and medial sides of the sneaker.
At the heel, MJ’s jersey number now comes in a metallic finish–standing out from the black mesh that surrounds it.
Moving down, the midsole stays in the traditional shade of white while the translucent outsole now comes in a flat white color. Looking through it, you can see the carbon fiber plate and its Jumpman logo. Completing the outsole is grey herringbone rubber pieces placed at the forefoot and heel.
