Jordan Brand has unveiled the Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred’ Reimagined as part of its Spring 2024 collection, slated to drop in the coming months. However, another pair of AJ4 has been getting many sneakerheads excited – the Air Jordan 4 ‘Military Blue.’
To the joy of OG heads all across the world, Jordan Brand is set to bring back the iconic Military Blue 4s with the historically accurate ‘Nike Air’ logo applied to a silhouette that utilizes the same shape as the OG release. Construction will mirror the ’89 release, coming in a near identical combination of leather upper and military blue accents all across the sneaker.
The Air Jordan 4 was first released in 1989, and arrived in four OG colorways: ‘Bred’, ‘White Cement’, ‘Fire Red’, and ‘Military Blue’. Unlike the other colorways, the Military Blue has only been properly retro-ed twice; once in 2006 and a second time in 2012. However, both variations came with a Jumpman logo rather than the classic Nike Air and arrived in different shades of blue – 2006 pair was darker and the 2012 was lighter. In 2021, a golf-variant of the Air Jordan 4 arrived in the rare colorway, but had made significant changes to improve traction on the putting green. Adding to the disappointment around the 2021 pair was the use of the Jumpman logo rather than the preferred Nike Air logo.
This would make the rumored 2024 retro the first proper retro of the 1989 pair and makes it the most accurate reproduction of the original sneaker. This would make it one of the most coveted sneakers of 2024 and can easily stand next to the Reimagine Bred 4s when people begin to build their ‘top sneakers of 2024’ lists. At the time of publishing, the AJ4 Military Blue is set to drop on May 11. Stay tune for more updates.
