To celebrate the Singapore launch of the ALDO Mx3 shoes, a unisex range of footwear, ALDO has teamed up with Kult Gallery Singapore to create a unique art exhibition titled “Step In, Up, and Out”.
If you’re into sneakers, then the ALDO Mx3 series would be of interest. This season, the collection arrives in two ranges: the first being the Mx3 Core and the second is the Mx3 Artist series. Created for both men and women, the Mx3 sneakers cut a sleek silhouette that’s versatile enough to take you from the streets to a pitch. These sneakers are also incredibly lightweight, great for urbanites who are constantly on the go.
Last Thursday, we were at the launch of the “Step In, Up, and Out” exhibition and here are some highlights from our experience:
Of course, the star of the exhibition is none other than the ALDO Mx3 range of lifestyle sneakers. This season, the Mx3 comes in two key ranges: the Mx3 Core and the Mx3 Artist series; the latter is created in partnership with five street artists from major cities: Montreal, New York, London, Seoul, and Dubai. View the collection within Kult Gallery now till Sunday, September 9.
Or, you can head to ALDO stores or aldoshoes.com.sg to get yours. Each pair retails at S$109.
The exhibition is filled with plenty of interactive activities worth checking out. You can try on the Mx3 shoes without having to put them on with augmented reality – simply place your feet within a stipulated outline, point an iPad at your feet and see how the Mx3 looks on your feet. You can even switch colorways by tapping on the iPad. After 7pm, look out for the projection mapping onto an Mx3 shoe in the Mx3 Core series area.
Footwear aside, the “Step In, Up, and Out” exhibition features a series of art pieces ranging from an interactive VR piece to music, photographs and a graffiti wall. The works on display are the result of the arts mentorship program that paired budding artists with arts mentor from various disciplines including baristry, music, photography, graffiti and moving-image making. These will be on display in the Kult Gallery till Sunday, September 9.
Within the Kombi was a display of ALDO’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection of footwear from the Safari, Dapper, and Pure Play ranges. Besides sneaker silhouettes, heels, boots, loafers and dress shoes that are as good for work and play are part of this season’s offerings. At the preview it was all window shopping only, but you can shop the collection at all ALDO stores or on aldoshoes.com.sg from September 13.
If you’re headed to the exhibition this weekend, you’re bound to take photos, so make sure you take good ones. ALDO will be giving away Mx3 sneakers to three lucky winners with the best photos. Contest closes September 9 and winners will be announced on September 10. Instructions as follows:
1. Follow @aldoshoes_sg on Instagram
2. Snap a photo of yourself at any Instagram-worthy spots at the exhibition
3. Post the photo on your Instagram and tag @aldoshoes_sg. Good luck!
Tap on your inner artist and create your very own customized ALDO Mx3 shoe on paper. Winners will see their very own personalized design come to life on an Mx3 shoe. Sounds good?
Guests at the exhibition preview were given the choice between two custom designs screenprinted onto socks – either the phrase “Sock Up” or the number “72” onto white socks. You may ask, “why 72?” Well, that was the year ALDO was founded. These were available on launch night only.
Avid arcade fans got to try their luck at the claw machine parked just at the entrance of Kult Gallery. Prizes to be won included shoe bags, USB drives, shoe care kits, fashion pins, as well as Mx Artist series shoes. The claw machine was available on launch night only.
Who doesn’t love a sticker? There were plenty complimentary stickers going around and so we grabbed some to go wild with on our phones and laptops – or practically anything with a surface.
By this time, we were thirsty so we grabbed drinks by mixologist Keshav Natarajan, a baristry mentee from the collaborative arts mentorship. If you’re heading to the exhibition this weekend, get your Mx3 cocktail at the Kult Kafe for S$20 per cup. You’ll get to choose from a range of spirits like rum, vodka, and tequila to be mixed with a choice of grapes or berries for a refreshing concoction. Can’t decide? Let the barkeeps know your favorite Mx3 sneaker colorway and they’ll fix something up for you.
Once the sun set, we were sipping more Mx3 inspired cocktails and feasting our eyes on a series of graphics (also inspired by the Mx3 Artist series) that were projected onto the colonial building that houses Kult Kafe at the peak of Emily Hill. There’s something mesmerizing about projection mapping that never gets old.
After dark, we stayed on at Kult Kafe for more drinks. If you’re heading over this weekend, indulge in a sundowner with friends – Kult’s cocktails such as Corn & Oil and Kult Julep are especially good.
