Art Stage Singapore is back with more galleries, and more platforms on which the work of Asian artists take centrestage.
By Daniel Loy
The local and regional arts scene has been blossoming in recent years and looks set to scale greater heights, thanks to events such as Art Stage Singapore 2014. Since 2011, despite weak sales in 2012, the yearly arts fair has been the avenue to showcase the talents of emerging and established artists.
It’s no different this year. In fact, there are more than 100 galleries to view at the international art fair, and you’ll notice that a majority of these galleries stem from around the region. The spotlight has been placed on artists operating in Asia Pacific, with the introduction of eight country and regional Platforms that brings together the best of Asian contemporary art. Visitors to these platforms can expect 70 specially curated projects exhibited museum-style.
