Credited as one of Singapore’s sneaker design OGs, SBTG returns for a second collaboration with Asics Tiger. This time, both rope sneaker retailer Limited Edt in on the ride.
Dubbed “Monsoon Patrol”, the Asics Tiger x Limited Edt x SBTG capsule comprises the Gel-Lyte III sneaker that comes with a dry bag and a coach jacket. Complementary accessories that will be released as part of the drop are an umbrella and a New Era cap.
Such a considered collection can only stem from real life experience, and so it did. In an interview Mark Ong of SBTG did with Straatosphere, he explained that Monsoon Patrol was inspired by a particularly rainy trip to Japan.
Closer to home – Singapore for the SBTG team and Limited Edt – unpredictable weather is also to be excepted. The monsoon season that countries in Southeast Asia so often experience in the latter parts of the year (such as we do now) makes it challenging picking the right sneakers to wear. Enter the Monsoon Patrol Gel-Lyte III sneaker and matching accessories that ensure you’re covered rain or shine.
The star of the collection is of course the Gel-Lyte III sneaker delivered in an olive green colorway, a color of choice for SBTG’s military-inspired design style. Besides a slight revamp to the Gel-Lyte III silhouette which includes a triple-density sole and a spin on the classic split-tongue design, the sneaker will come with water-resistant upgrades namely a nylon toe box and a removable nylon tongue cover with a gutter hook system. Watch as these waterproofing features prevent absorption of moisture into the shoe like water rolling off a duck’s back.
