The remix features a star-studded list of big players in the game, such as LL Cool J, Mary J Blige, A$AP Rocky and Justin Timberlake, on top of a 40-pax children’s choir. Proceeds from the remix will go to will.i.am’s non-profit, the i.am.angel foundation.
The video stars yet more artistes such as Snoop Dogg and Lance Bass. Also in the video are appearances by Sandra Sterling, whose nephew Alton Sterling passed away due to police brutality, and Velerie Castile who also lost her son to the law.
In a follow-up video, the band explains the reason for revisiting the 13 year old track. “There was a lot of separatism, racism, and we felt like the question we had been asking is like, Yo, where is the love?” says Black Eyed Peas’ member Taboo. “Everyone was calling on us, like, ‘we need that song again.'” continues will.i.am.
