On October 12th, Day 4 of Fashion Week 2013, the opening show for the day took a turn for the casual. The Burkman Bros Spring/Summer 2014 collection is testament to their philosophy, “If I wouldn’t wear it, I wouldn’t make it”. The designers behind Burkman Bros – brothers Doug and Ben Burkman – inject rugged sensibility to classic American menswear, making it wearable and accessible. And yet, Burkman Bros is not a shot in the dark – the brothers have perfected the concept of applying a tailored fit to casual menswear staples such as shirts, chinos and outerwear. The high touch is delivered through the brothers’ choice of prints and fabric, a skill they honed while working at the Gap Inc. men’s design team.
