Kutmah will be performing live at Kult Kafe this Sunday. He will be supported by selectors from Darker Than Wax and Sideshow.
Joining him will be Rah and William J (both Darker Than Wax) and Shellsuit (Sideshow).
Fans will be blessed with Kutmah’s legendary mixtures, inspired by his time spent on the West Coast. Those new to his music can expect to be pleasantly surprised.
Having lived in LA for a while, Kutmah has relocated to England, where he was born, and now resides in London. He currently hosts the Sketchbook Radio show on NTS. Earlier this year, BBC DJ Gilles Peterson invited him to curate the second CD in Brownswood’s (Peterson’s Label) Worldwide Family series.
Kutmah first made a name for himself by being a part of the famed Dublab music collective. In 2004, he also launched his own series of “Sketchbook” club nights that was the beginning of the Los Angeles beat scene as it is known today. He has also released several of his own original records with foundations in hip-hop and a record collection that spans far beyond the genre.
The fearless selector is an equally talented visual artist, having exhibited a series of his hand-drawn illustrations in London in 2015. The exhibition, titled “Two Soups & A Honeybun“, was a showcase of his work created during his incarceration in a New Mexican detention center.
