Emojipedia is a good resource to consult to find out if your favorite emojis are in or out.

The new feature churns out graphs that chart the rise and fall in people’s interest in each emoji over the past five years.
Interest in an emoji, in this case, is measured by the number of times people search for a particular emoji on Google.
According to Emojipedia, “Each graph is relative to the emoji being viewed. 100 represents when that emoji saw its highest number of searches.”
You can even compare the popularity of one emoji against another.
Interestingly, the popularity of the following emojis are on the upswing: Face with Tears of Joy and Dogs. Sassy Girl peaked sometime ago, and is not as popular now.
Give Emojipedia a go, and for crying out loud retire the Fax Machine emoji already.
