Footwear drops: Nike dominates this week’s roundup of releases

Open your July account with the Nike Air Max 270 React launching this Friday, July 5.

But before you jump in and cop Nike’s latest silhouette, check out the other sneakers dropping this week too.

Nike takes center stage in the opening week of July with a slew of releases coming your way. Besides the long-awaited Nike Air Max 270 React, we’re also looking at a new colorway for the Air Jordan 1 Mid and a unique reinterpretation of the Air Force 1 silhouette. But given Nike’s penchant for innovation, that isn’t all you can expect. The sportswear giant will also introduce the all-new women’s exclusive Nike ZoomX Vista Grind – a strikingly bold convergence between a modern runner and a classic chunky silhouette. Check out the upcoming releases below.

Air Jordan 1 Mid
July 4

The Air Jordan 1 High may be the star silhouette, but its mid- and low-top siblings aren’t far behind thanks to impressive releases recently. This week, the spotlight is on the Air Jordan 1 Mid, featuring multiple familiar colorways on a single pair of sneakers. Three popular colorways make its way on the uppers of the sneaker – almost identical to the Air Jordan 1 High “What The” Top 3 concoction back in November 2016. The toe box, in particular, will feature the “Royal” colorway, a tinge of the infamous “Bred” around the collar, and a Lakers-inspired purple and gold mix adorning the Swooshes. Cop the best of three colorways in one sneaker through this Air Jordan 1 Mid launching this Thursday, July 4.

Nike ZoomX Vista Grind
July 4

Nike unleashes arguably its wildest model yet, mixing a streamlined, contemporary upper with a futuristic chunky midsole. The women’s exclusive sneaker features trendy neon colors and a DIY-like aesthetic, with outlined Swooshes and midsole cutouts that reveal a neon green inner base constructed of the same recycled foam material as the bulky midsole. The futuristic Nike ZoomX Vista Grind will definitely go down in history as a peculiar albeit appealing silhouette. Cop this for S$265 if you’re looking to step into the future of sneakers.

Nike Air Force 1 “Type”
July 4

Ever since the well-received release of “The Ten” pack – Virgil Abloh’s unprecedented experiment on Nike’s famous silhouettes – the brand has taken it upon itself to deliver iterations that display the same sense of rawness in design. Fresh off the drawing board is the Nike Air Force 1 “Type”, which will hit stores soon. The sneaker features a prototype-like impression with mismatched uppers that combine both the classic leather makeup and synthetic materials. Additional details like the extra mudguard layer on the toe and the heel-strap give the S$195 sneaker a more functional feel that is reminiscent of the popular Air Force 1 Utility model.

At S$229, the sneaker breaks into the market at a relatively affordable price point given its functional form.
