Happy Global Running Day: Run for good, run for fun, and shop running gear

Happy Global Running Day 2019 takes place Wednesday, June 5. No better day to pick up your running shoes and head out the door.

Make your June 5 count by hitting the track.

Global Running Day is all about celebrating running. So go on, get out there!

Global Running Day is a great day for everyone, whether you’re the kind of person who loves clocking up mileage on your own two feet or you’re thinking of getting back into running again.

With no distance minimums or Usain Bolt timings to beat, this global event will appeal to beginners and veterans alike. Set your own pace and decide how far you want to run – you are your only competition.

To add to the occasion, Global Running Day also falls on Hari Raya Puasa – a public holiday in Singapore. Not having to get into work means you have no excuse to not participate in one of these activities happening today:

1. Run for good: Asics Virtual Run 2019

Try the Virtual Run with Asics.

For Global Running Day 2019, kill two birds with one stone with the Asics Virtual Run. For every 1km that you clock on the virtual running app 42Race, Asics will donate S$1 to the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC). In addition, you’ll receive an e-badge of completion and stand a chance to be one of 40 to win the Asics Boston Backpack. There is no location restriction as to where you can run to be part of this event, as long as your workout registers on the app.

To participate, download the 42Race app to your mobile and search for “ASICS Global Running Day Virtual Run” to register. Upload your run once you’re done.

2. Run for fun: The High Panters ‘Global Running Day’ Social Run

Social running clubs like The High Panters put the fun into runs.

Not everyone is a self-motivated runner. Some regular runners hate running. The good news is that running can be made better with a little company, and that’s exactly what The High Panters are here for. On June 5, the running club extends an open invitation to runners of all levels to meet at 7pm at 18 Hours @ Keong Saik (located at Hotel 1929). After a bag-drop at the venue, embark on a leisurely run around the Keong Saik neighborhood before heading back to 18 Hours for food and drinks. Check out their Facebook Page for more details.
