Photography meets graffiti: Inside the 12 Hours exhibition by Stash and Jahan

12 Hours by Stash x Jahan just launched this week at Leica Galerie Singapore.

Stash (left) and Jahan Loh (right) showcase a different body of work for this exhibition in collaboration with Leica.

The exhibition showcases original works by Singaporean artist Jahan Loh and New York graffiti legend Stash.

The exhibition spotlights the journeys of New York legendary graffiti artist Stash and prominent Singaporean contemporary artist Jahan Loh as they explored their respective cities and captured scenes using Leica’s latest Q2 camera at the same moment, but in timezones 12 hours apart. The gallery walls are adorned with the intricate lines that are characteristic of New York’s subway system and Singapore’s iconic buildings. Also featured is a photograph of Intergalactic Dreams, a massive sculpture Jahan created that was recently displayed at the National Museum Singapore. The larger focus of the exhibition comes through the visual journey that communicates the idea of time, space and existence.

The absence of color allows the details of each photograph to come into focus to communicate the ideas of time, space and existence.

Presented by Leica, the exhibition signals how the brand is about more than just high-quality cameras; it’s a lifestyle. Leica has pushed boundaries with its outstanding store concepts, particularly the one at Raffles Hotel Arcade, which also features a cafe and gallery space. Officially called Leica Galerie Singapore, the space provides a platform not only for photography but other types of art as well. Welcoming Stash and Jahan’s 12 Hours exhibition – which marries photography and graffiti – shows just that. Interested to take a look? Check out the details below.

Intricate lines and structure feature heavily in the exhibition.
