Ever since Madonna’s opening performance alongside Macklemore and Mary Lambert at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in January last year, fans have been hanging on tight in anticipation of The Queen of Pop’s next album.
Featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Kayne West, Nas, Chance the Rapper and even Mike Tyson, the 8-time Grammy Award winning Material Girl mentioned that her newest album Rebel Heart explores two very distinct sides of her personality. “The Rebellious renegade side of me, and the romantic side of me”, she said in an interview with Billboard.
Despite a leak of 13 unfinished cuts and demos over the holiday, several of those songs debuted at No. 1 on iTunes in 49 countries. In addition, six of the released cuts of ‘Rebel Heart’ have already received critical acclaim.
“They won’t experience Madonna the celebrity or Madonna the fashion statement,” says Jon Pareles from the New York Times, “but the Madonna who has kept us listening for decades: Madonna the musician.”
Madonna is slated to perform live at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards on February 8th.
